How do I set my Dynalink RTA1335 in half-bridge (IP Extension) mode?

Overview

Step 1: Login to the RTA1335
  1. Open Internet Explorer and in the address bar enter 'http://192.168.1.1' (without the ''). A small window will pop up asking you to connect to 192.168.1.1
  2. Enter the Username: admin and Password: admin
  3. Click 'OK'
Step 2: Edit VPI & VCI settings
  1. You should now be in the router interface, click 'Advanced' at the top and then 'Internet' on the left.
  2. Click the red edit pencil. Enter the VPI & VCI for the connection. Aus - VPI:8 VCI:35
  3. On the Configure Internet Connection - Connection Type page, select PPP over ATM (PPPoA) or PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE ) depending on your Internet Service Provider's setting, then click the Next button.
Step 3: WAN Setup Page
  1. In the WAN IP Settings page, select Obtain an IP address automatically
  2. Uncheck the 'Enable NAT' box and check the 'PPP IP extension' box,
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the username and password which was provided by your ISP
  5. Press Next.
  6. Check that the settings match what you have entered. If they do, click Apply. If they don't, go back and reconfirm them.
  7. Click Finish. Let the modem reboot. Wait until the PPP light turns on and then test the internet connection.
Step 4: Renew the IP address (Maybe Necessary)

If you cannot access the internet, you may need to Repair the connection / Renew the IP Address .
If you are running Windows XP:
  1. Start Menu --> Run --> Type in 'cmd' without the ('') and press Enter.
  2. Type in 'ipconfig /release' without the ('') and then press Enter.
  3. Wait until finished, then type in 'ipconfig /renew' without the ('') and then press Enter.
  4. Wait until finished, and then test internet connection again.
Once you have placed the router in Half Bridge Mode, NAT has been disabled, meaning that your Dynalink unit will not work as a router.There will also be no Firewall on the unit. Please consider the security implications on your network.
