Overview

Step 1: Accessing the Sipura ATA
  1. Connect your phone into the PHONE port of your Sipura ATA .
  2. Dial **** then 110#, the SPA will announce the current IP address
  3. Once you have the IP address of your SPA-3000 you can access the web interface by opening a web browser and typing the following in the Address: http:/ /< IP Address of SPA-3000> For example: http://192.168.1.10
  4. Enter the username: user and your SIP password
  5. You should now see the Sipura SPA-3000 Phone Adapter Configuration screen.
  1. Click on Admin Login on the right hand side, then click on Advanced. You can also go directly to the admin/advanced section by typing: http://192.168.1.10/admin/advanced
  2. Enter the username: admin and your SIP password
Step 2:  Update the firmware

Make sure you update the firmware from Firmware Update

Step 3:  SIP Settings.
  1. The SIP tab as a number of advanced settings that control how the SPA initiates telephone calls with other hardware (and software). There is one setting on the SPA3000 that you should change.
  2. Under the SDP Payload section, change the G729a Codec name to G729 (ie remove the a).

Step 4: Regional Settings

The following changes are optional, however they will make your SPA-3000 sound more Australian. Under the Call Progress Tones and Distinctive Ring Patterns headings change:

Dial tone: 400@-19,425@-19,450@-19;10(*/0/1+2+3)

Note, you may like to keep the default US sounding dial tone. The benefit of leaving it is that it sounds different to your PSTN dial tone. It is therefore easy to tell if you are dialling out via VoIP or PSTN .

If you want to leave the USA dial tone, then the settings should stay as Dial tone: 350@-19,440@-19;10(*/0/1+2)
  • Busy Tone: 425@-19;10(.375/.375/1)
  • Reorder Tone: 425@-19, 425@-29;60(.375/.375/1,.375/.375/2)
  • Ring Back Tone: 400@-19,425@-19,450@-19;*(.4/.2/1+2+3,.4/2/1+2+3)
  • MWI Dial Tone: 400@-19,425@-19,450@-19;2(.1/.1/1+2);10(*/0/1+2)
  • Ring1 Cadence: 60(.4/.2,.4/2)

The following change is required under the Miscellaneous heading. This will reduce the echo.
FXS Port Impedance: 220+820||115nF

Step 5: Setting up a Time Server and Daylight Saving Rules
  1. You can configure the SPA-3000 to automatically retrieve the current date and time (Including daylight savings).
  2. To do this you will need to enter in a NTP server.

Primary NTP Server:
au.pool.ntp .org

Step 6: Setting up a static IP. (System Tab)

Important: If you are configuring a static IP for your Sipura SPA-3000, you must have DNS configured via your SPA otherwise your unit will not register.

The above static IP is an example. Please don’t use the example.

Daylight savings parameters

For NSW these settings will work:
  • Time Zone: GMT+11:00
  • Daylight Saving Time Rule: start=3/-1/7/3;end=10/-1/7/2;save=-1
Step 7: Proxy and Registration
  1. Go to the LINE 1 tab
  2. Go to the Proxy and Authentication Heading

Enter the below user data into the fields above
  • Proxy: byo.engin.com.au
  • Outbound Proxy: syd.byo.engin.com.au
  • Use Outbound Proxy: Yes
  • Use OB proxy in dialogue: Yes
  • Register Expires: 900
  • Use DNS Srv: Yes
  • Use DNS Srv Auto Prefix: Yes
  • Display Name: Your Name
  • User ID: Your engin phone number
  • Password: your engin password (within the summary page)
  • Use Auth ID: Yes
  • AUTH ID: Your engin phone number.
  • Supported codec ’s: G729a & G711a
Audio Configuration
  1. The next thing that needs to be altered is under the Audio Configuration heading.
  2. The following change is required.
  3. Select Preferred Codec : G729a.
Step 8: Dial Plans

(copy and paste the following dial plan at the bottom section of the LINE 1 page)
(*xx|13[1-9]xxxS0|1[38]00xxxxxxS0|190xxxxxxx!|000S0<:@gw0>|<#,:>xx.<:@gw0>|0011xxxxx.|[2-9]xxxxxxxS0|0[2-9]xxxxxxxxS0)

Description
*xx = special *number dial
13[1-9]xxx = dial pizza numbers etc
1[38]00xxxxxx = 1300 and 1800 numbers
190xxxxxxx! = Disable 1900 numbers (remove ! to enable)
000<:@gw0> = Fire/Police/Ambulance
0011 = International
[2-9]xxxxxxx = any local number
0[2-9]xxxxxxxx = any interstate numbers
<#,:>xx.<:@gw0> = Press the # key to dial out the PSTN

Step 9: PSTN Line Settings

The first thing that needs to be changed is under the PSTN Disconnect Detection heading. The following change is required:

Disconnect Tone: 425@-30,425@-30;1(.375/.375/1+2)

Under the FXO Timer Values (sec): Just change 2 items here.
  • VoIP Answer Delay: 1
  • PSTN Ring Thru Delay: If you do not subscribe to Caller ID service on your PSTN line, this can be set to 0. Most users will want to set it to at least 3 so that the incoming Caller ID data is captured. In rare situations you may need a slightly longer delay (5 should be more than enough).
Make the following changes under the International Control heading.
  • FXO Port Impedance: 220+820||120nF
  • Ring Frequency Min: 10
  • SPA To PSTN Gain: 0
  • Ring Frequency Max: 100
  • PSTN To SPA Gain: 3
  • Ring Validation Time: 256 ms
  • Tip/Ring Voltage Adjust: 3.5 V
  • Ring Indication Delay:512 ms
  • Operational Loop Current Min: 10 mA
  • Ring Timeout: 640 ms
  • On-Hook Speed: 26 ms (Australia)
  • Ring Threshold: 13.5-16.5 Vrms
  • Current Limiting Enable: no
  • Ringer Impedance: High (Normal)
  • Line-In-Use Voltage: 30
