Overview
Step 1: Installing the Counterpath X-lite
- Download the X-lite softphone. You can use either of these links
- You can download Windows XP, Macintosh or Linux version
Step 2: Adding a SIP account
- Run the application and install it once the download is complete.
- Open the X-lite desktop icon
- To setup your X-lite softphone , you will first need to add a SIP account by right clicking on the softphone
- Click "Add"
Step 3: Configuring a SIP account (engin) The following settings will be required to correctly configure your X-lite softphone to engin and optus cable.
- Display Name: Your Name
- Username: Your engin phone number (i.e: 0280040000)
- Authorisation User Name: Your engin phone number (i.e: 0280040000)
- Password: Your engin SIP password
- Domain: voice.mibroadband.com.au
- Tick: “ register with domain” and receive incoming calls.
- Tick: “ Send via outbound proxy
- Enter: new.engin.com.au as the outbound proxy
- Supported X-lite codecs: G711alaw
Step 4: Changing the codec
- Right click on the softphone and go to OPTIONS
- Go to Advanced
- Go to Audio Codecs
- Select G711a
- Save your settings by pressing OK
