How do I use PingPlotter to test my connection if I'm having problems?

Overview
Often, when using a VSP, you might experience poor voice quality - echoes, delays, poor sound quality, or just the inability to hear the other person talking. These are all symptoms of network problems, but normally you don’t have the right tools to identify the source of the network problem.

The following is a test example how you can test your VoIP to engin.

Step 1: Download PingPlotter
  1. Download and install pingplotter Here (Login as a Guest)
  2. Open the application
  3. Set the trace interval at 1 second
  4. Set the samples field to 10 (default)

Step 2: Ping the engin gateway
  1. Enter the IP address and final Hop of 210.80.145.34 (which is the engin network)
  2. Click the Trace button

Step 3: Monitor the results
  1. You can record the results for as long as you like. Try to pinpoint when quality problems are most likely to occur.
  2. Run the test for as long as you like (you can run the test while you are on the phone and check if any packet loss or visible latency is evident)

Step 4: Save the results.
  1. When you have run the PingPlotter test for a good half and hour save your results as a sample set
  2. Email your results to your VSP in a sample set.
  3. You can also email your results to your ISP if .gif format if this is a problem they should be made aware of.
