How do I setup the Counterpath X-lite on the engin network.

Step 1: Installing the Counterpath X-lite
  1. Download the X-lite softphone. You can use either of these links
  2. You can download Windows XP, Macintosh or Linux version
Step 2: Adding a SIP account
  1. Run the application and install it once the download is complete.
  2. Open the X-lite desktop icon
  3. To setup your X-lite softphone , you will first need to add a SIP account by right clicking on the softphone
  4. Click "Add"

Step 3: Configuring a SIP account (engin)
The following settings will be required to correctly configure your X-lite softphone to your VSP network. The following below is an example to connect to the engin network using the X-lite softphone.

  • Display Name: Your Name
  • Username: Your engin phone number (i.e: 0280040000)
  • Authorisation User Name: Your engin phone number (i.e: 0280040000)
  • Password: Your engin SIP password
  • Domain: syd.byo.engin.com.au
  • Tick: “ register with domain” and receive incoming calls.
  • Supported X-lite codecs: G711alaw


Step 4: Changing the codec
  1. Right click on the softphone and go to OPTIONS
  2. Go to Advanced
  3. Go to Audio Codecs
  4. Select G711a
  5. Save your settings by pressing OK
